February Post

February 2011!

February oh February how I hated you.  Here's what happened.  I'm back to work for barely a week, when I notice Gage is getting congested and not allergy congested but CONGESTED.  So Saturday I take the afternoon off work and take him to the Dr.  Now the Dr we saw is not my regular Dr whom I know and love and takes care of us - we saw another Dr in the clinic.  Dr swear words (because I won't mention his name, but needless to say I will never ever go to him again) checks him says "It's a chest cold keep an eye on him"  I say "Well it's RSV season shouldn't we check for RSV since he could be hospitalized for RSV".  Dr swear words "It's just a chest cold, just keep an eye on him".  Monday Gage's breathing is scaring the hell out of me, so Bill and I take him to ER.  We wait there in the waiting room for an hour, and I won't go into the people that were in the ER but society is scary.  Anyway ER Dr see's him, tests him for RSV, and has respiratory therapist suck out his nose twice.  Guess what Gage has RSV!!  So, we're released with a perscription to take Gage to a clinic where they're going to suck out his nose as often as we take him, and we're told to take him often.  So, Tuesday we take him often.  Wednesday Bill goes back to work, and my mom and I take him.  He was so pale and still not breathing right when we took him that they had a NICU Respiratory Therapist look at him.  Off topic I came to adore this Dr.  He was so amazing with Gage, and just one of the nicest people I have ever met, plus he had long hair in a pony tail so I called him Hippy Dave.  Anyway Hippy Dave looks him over looks at me and says I want you to go straight to your Dr with him.  So I do.  My Dr, my Dr whom I love looks at Gage for all of 15 seconds looks at me and says "I'm admitting him to the hospital, I'm going to make the arrangements you're to go straight there"  Oh here come the water works!!  Anyway we go to the hospital and it's kind of a blur, but here are the highlights and low lights.  Gage was admitted and was hooked up to an iv (this was awful it took so many pokes to his poor little arms to get this set up) because he was dehydrated.  I won't go into the whole two days he was there, but I will say the Pediatric Staff at DRMC are amazing people.  They were all so caring not only to Gage but to myself and Bill everyone offered help where ever we needed it, and some just gave hugs.  When Gage was finally released we still had an ongoing perscription to the nose sucking clinic, and poor little dude had lost more then a pound - his face looked so slender after this.  I don't have any pictures from this experience because it was just so sad, but I do have the pictures in my head at how sick he was and looked and it still breaks my heart - poor little guy.  Anyway cute thing though when we finally got him home Lyla was thrilled to have her brother back and they literaly sat together Lyla holding Gage for about 20 minutes where Gage just talked and talked and talked to her - I think he was trying to tell her about his experience.  So in other words they were thrilled to be back together again.  We celebrated Valentines Day (I don't remember how, but the kids got cute shirts!), and the rest of the month was kind of a blur with going back to work and staying for longer then a week this time.  Pictures!!

Lyla loves this baby doll.

Little Valentines

I had to have this shirt for Gage.

I love how it's never planned but they always have the same expression on their faces when I take their pics together.

What a Cutie!
