Events in March

Baby Food

Gage started eating baby food.  My plan with the baby food was to introduce stuff very slowly like every 3 or 4 days just once a day, and then by the time he was six months then he would be eating more solids.  Ya that didn’t work.  We did start slow, just some oatmeal in the morning mixed with formula, and it was just about 2 or 3 times a week is all.  Then one evening we went out as a family to Texas Roadhouse and I felt bad for him watching us eat so I ordered him some applesauce.  That night he slept through the night for the first time – really first time!  I became sold and he started getting a meal every night and guess what – he sleeps through the night now – awe the sweetness of sleep is back in the house.  He loves the homemade baby food, and that makes me feel pretty proud.  His favs so far: applesauce, pears, bananas, avocados, peas, green beans, and carrots. Pics!

Yummy oatmeal.

Took the bowl from me, guess I wasn't feeding him fast enough.

Got this toy for Christmas - it's annoying.  So, of course it's a favorite of his.

Lyla made a train, her, Gage, and baby doll.

So very handsome!
Bruiser
08/12/05 – 03/30/11

Now I really haven’t had many sad events in my life, and I’ve never had a pet long enough to get attached and then lose one – losing Bruiser is one of the hardest things I have ever been through and every day I still feel like I am recovering.  We took Bruiser into our home in October of 2005.  We ran into the family that we got our other day MJ from.  We ran into them in the store they showed us this little dog – I held him and wouldn’t let go – Bill bought him for me on the spot.  From day one Bruiser was my dog, he didn’t like Bill and he was scared around other people, but he would let me hold him and snuggle him all the time.  My favorite feature of Bruiser was his ears.  One would be flopped down and the other straight up – we would call him bugs sometimes.  As he got older and we grew as a family he finally let Bill into his world and Bill got hooked as well.  Lyla adored him and he loved her.  Many times Lyla would be walking around holding Bruiser in her arms.  Gage only got to know him for a short time, but Bruiser was always great with him too.  Bruiser got very ill a week before passing.  He was taken to several Vet visits with blood tests trying to figure out what was wrong.  We treated him with medications and because he wouldn’t eat or drink we syringed water and food into him.  A few days before passing we knew our little guy wasn’t going to be with us much longer so we started taking lots of pictures of him with the kids.  On March 30th Bill and I took him into the vet for a blood test again.  After the bad news that he was getting worse we decided to end his suffering and have him put down – turns out he had bone cancer that was untreatable.  Bruiser only wanted me to hold him at that point, and I held him as he passed away.  I’m glad his suffering is over, but I miss him very much.  Pics of my Bruiser Bugg!

My 3 boys!

Hard to explain to a kid about death and heaven.

Lyla loved him so much, and still asks about him all the time. :(
