May Post

Why is this just a month before now and I can't remember much that happened this month - puzzling~~~~.  Gage got two teeth, and he's just so cute with them. He was a champ for teething, the only issue we had was drool.  Oh and Lyla finally wore out her first pair of shoes - sounds weird right?  Since she has been born we have always grown out of shoes with all of them still looking brand new.  Well we bought the shoes that wore out in August of 2010 (when we had the fun school shopping experience), and they wore out like had a hole in the toe and everything.  When this happened Lyla asked for new shoes, but I said "Hello chicka you just got 4 new pairs of shoes last month for your Birthday and Easter).  She got over it.

Lyla had her closing program at preschool.  She of course is only 4 and is going to have another year of preschool, but it was so great to attend this program and hear about everything that she has learned over the year.  At the end of the program her teacher Ms. Gwen (an amazing amazing woman - she also taught Summer and Tyler) sat with each student and told the audience how amazing the child was and then asked the child what they liked best about school.  She mentioned how Lyla is just kind and mellow and just goes with the flow.  When asked what she liked the best about school she said "Gummie bears (snack time they get crackers, water, and two gummie bears) and playing outside - hilarious!  My goal this summer with her to teach her how to write her name and learn the abc's better.  She is brillant with numbers, she can count, she can add - but letters throw her off a little bit.

Walking out at the start of the program.

We went camping for Memorial Day Weekend with my family in our usual spot at Coral Pink Sand Dunes.  I usually look forward to this camp out because it usually signals the beginning of summer time: camping, bbq's, swimming, and summer nights.  This time I wasn't looking forward to it with a baby in tow (especially when the past two years were really simple), but Gage was so good - I think he loves being outdoors.  He went on his first 4 wheeler ride that was really in a car seat in the Prowler and he is such a thrill seeker that he feel asleep before we made it to the Sand Dunes.  Lyla had a blast playing in the sand with her cousins and going on 4 wheeler rides.  She is really a lot of fun to take on a 4 wheeler and I took her out often with just her and me.  Bill got a small injury when he tried to save his hat from falling in the sand - he fell off the 4 wheeler and still has some hurt ribs - but hey he caught the hat so I guess that is a good thing.  It was also hilarious to look back (I was on my own 4 wheeler I never ride bitch on a wheeler I drive) and see the 4 wheeler going forward without a driver and Bill rolling in the sand.

Happy baby in a camping chair.

He always cheese's it for the camera - I love it!

April 2011 Post

Wow I'm getting caught up and I'm so happy - it's nice to get my thoughts and pictures organized from the last 6 or so months.

What we have we done this month?  Well lots!

First and super exciting we moved!  I'm so thrilled to be moved into our new place.  We are now in a cute house in South Hurricane fields in Rainbow Canyon.  We have beautiful views, a quiet neighborhood (really it's mostly the elderly cruising around on their ATV's), we're close to John and Kandace, close to my families house (convenient for babysitting), and it's the perfect size for our family.  We have 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (master bathroom huge!)large open space that is the kitchen, dining, family room.  We have a smaller backyard then we're used to, but it fits the swing set and sand box nicely.  I love this place, it's nice that after more then a year I feel at home in a house - big sigh of relief.

Also this month we had Bill's Birthday and Lyla's Birthday.  Not really much to say about Bill's Birthday I don't really celebrate adult Birthday's - not even mine.  It's just a "hey Happy Birthday" thing, and he didn't get a gift because we had just moved and were pretty broke that week (ha like most weeks).  Lyla's Birthday of course we celebrated!  She turned 4 (can you believe I have a 4 year old?  Remember when I had no kids and now a 4 year old - crazy).  Luckily I had purchased her gifts a few months ago (as well as Easter gifts).  She got a new bike (16' Princess Bike), some Duplo blocks, some Strawberry Shortcake dolls, and a shirt from Bill and I.  She got other gifts too of course from Grandparents (ZuZu Pets, clothes, shoes, some new dolls, a big sticker & marker book (has already been taken away from her twice, but we won’t get into that,) etc.)  Since her Birthday was the day before Easter we did just a quick presents and cake party.  We also got to make cupcakes this year and take them to her preschool class.  We made them look like little baskets - Lyla was very proud of them.

Finished Product.

Lyla did the jelly beans.

Aren't they beautiful?  They were super yummy!

Excited for cake

We also celebrated Easter - two days of Easter.  On the 23rd we went in the morning to Hurricane Cities Easter Egg Hunt, then later the same day there was an Easter Egg Hunt at my moms house.  The kids got to search for eggs in the front yard, and then got Easter baskets.  The Easter baskets were full of clothes, shoes, toys, and of course some candy.

Getting ready to hunt for the candy.

Big field of candy.

Dad telling her to look for the eggs - the have a prize inside.

We only got candy :(

There was a lot of competition.

We celebrated Easter the next day, and the kids got their Easter baskets from us.  I don't like to do a lot of candy I'm more of a here is a toy and a new outfit complete with shoes type of easter basket.  So, both kids got a new outfit and some cute sandals.  Lyla got a Leapfrog video game with two games, and Gage got a cute little tool bench, as well as a bee toy.  He pretty much hates the tool bench toy because it won't support him on his quest to climb up and over items as much as possible.  Oh well you can't win every time.
